What to make of the innovative Motorola dp2400

Editors note – Motorola seem that they are getting out two way radios like they’re just candy lately, the digital revolution has in fact given Motorola a second wind and they really are, as standard, pushing the boundaries of the two way radio marketplace. This latest two way radio the DP2400, is full fat digital and i have used it for a few weeks it’s very related size to numerous other of the current radios, but with a new connection type. The shape is very like other current two way radios, but i believe the purchase price will make a tremendous difference to small businesses and individuals, anyway here is a very rare appraisal of that radio.

A 2 way radio has to be in a position to work swiftly and effectively. These have to be straightforward to use, strongly made and multi-faceted enough to appeal to many different people. Luckily, Motorola are very, very good at fulfilling these criteria. So, with that at heart, we put the Motorola dp2400 through its paces.

THE SPECS

The clarity of digital audio is indisputable. But when you still prefer analogue, then don’t despair. The Motorola dp2400 is totally at ease handling both analogue and digital signals.

But there’s a lot more it can do besides that.

The Dp2400 can even use its ‘IP Site Connect’ function to increase the capability of the device via the Internet. In addition, the ‘capacity plus’ function can use a single-site trunking system to enable over a thousand voice or data transfer-users devoid of adding any new frequencies. It can even use an (optional) ‘linked capacity plus’ feature (a multi-site version of the ‘capacity plus’ function) that works in tandem with the IP functionality to make sure even broader fields of communication over larger distances.

There’s even an enhanced security function.

The Motorola Dp2400 comes in both VHF and UHF forms.

THE PRICE

This is a reasonable, yet high spec, device. Recently there has been release of that Motorola dp3400, we are able to reasonably expect the price to drop a bit more as well soon, but probably not by an incredible amount, as both models do generally focus on slightly different niches’.

Overall, it does look like Motorola are offering a good radio-based product for your hard earned money, yet again.

THE PERFORMANCE

The look is hardy and practical; this is a type of 2 way radio a security guard or professional soldier might use. Its tough, rectangle edged and no-nonsense, but it really still looks modern and professional. Over this, the Motorola dp2400’s easy use makes the simplicity of the design an ideal marriage of model and operation.

As with the majority of Motorola’s types, the Motorola dp2400 is a robust little doohickey. The bodywork is so tightly sealed, in fact, that it is almost completely dust and sand proof and has a water protection rating of IP55 (meaning you can use it in the rain, but you almost certainly can’t take it swimming).

The audio performance of the DP 2400 is nothing short of spectacular. It even adjusts the sound levels to compensate for background noise automatically, much like the iphone.

Actually, so high performance is this two way radio, that it essentially meets US military standard 810 C D E F and G.

Really the only negative we could find was that the look was slightly bulky and the battery was a little heavy, however, the battery life is so good that we really don’t mind. Besides, it’s reassuring to be totally sure that you just are not going to lose the product (you would soon notice in case you dropped it).

As an optional extra, you will even obtain a function which will interrupt an existing signal so they can deliver critical information without waiting for a message come to an end.

THE VERDICT

It actually does seem as if Motorola have considered everything for this 2 way radio. What we’ve got here is a 2 way radio that is pretty close to perfection. It appears to do everything you could probably want it to and, when ‘pimped out’ with all the added extras, it will surely do a lot more besides.

There are not really any downsides with this product, it works tremendously well, is pretty much top of the line in its price range and is bang up to date mechanically. What more can you ask for?
