Update – Motorola give the impression to be turning out two way radios like they are sweets nowadays, the digital revolution has in fact provided Motorola a second wind and they really are, as usual, pushing the boundaries of this walkie talkie marketplace. This recent walkie talkie the Dp 2400, is full fat digital and i have tested it for the few weeks it is very comparable size to numerous other of the current radios, but with a new connection sort. The form is similar to other current radios, but i think the price can make a huge differentiation to small businesses and individuals, anyway here is a very rare assessment of the two way radio.
A walkie talkie has to be in a position to work promptly and effectively. These have to be straightforward to use, strongly designed and multi-faceted enough to appeal to many different people. Luckily, Motorola are very excellent at fulfilling these criteria. So, with that at heart, we put the Motorola dp2400 through its paces.
The clarity of digital audio is undeniable. But if you continue to prefer analogue, then don’t despair. The Motorola dp2400 is totally at ease handling both analogue and digital frequencies.
But there’s much more it is able to do besides that.
The Motorola dp2400 can even use its ‘IP Site Connect’ function to open out the aptitude of the radio via the Internet. In addition, the ‘capacity plus’ function can use just one-site trunking system to enable over a thousand voice or data transfer-users without adding any new frequencies. It could even use an (optional) ‘linked capacity plus’ feature (a multi-site version of the ‘capacity plus’ function) that works in tandem using the IP functionality to make sure even broader fields of communication over bigger distances.
There’s even an enhanced security function.
The Motorola Dp2400 can be purchased in both VHF and UHF forms.
It’s much reasonably priced, yet high spec, device. Recently there has been release of the Dp 3400, we can reasonably expect the price to drop a bit more as well soon, but probably not by an implausible amount, as both models do seems to specialize in slightly different areas.
Overall, it does seem like Motorola are offering a fantastic radio-based product for your money, yet again.
The design is hardy and functional; this is the type of radio a security guard or professional soldier might use. Its tough, rectangle edged and no-nonsense, however it still looks contemporary and professional. Over this, the Dp2400’s ease of use makes the simplicity of that design a perfect marriage of model and operation.
As with the vast majority of Motorola’s designs, the Motorola dp2400 is a tough little doohickey. The bodywork is so tightly sealed, in fact, that it’s almost wholly dust and sand proof and has a water protection rating of IP55 (meaning you can use it in the rain, but you almost certainly can’t take it snorkelling).
The audio performance of this Dp2400 is nothing short of wonderful. It even adjusts the levels to compensate for background noise automatically, much like the iphone.
In fact, so high performance is this two way radio, that it in fact meets US military standard 810 C D E F and G.
A common negative we could find was that the design was slightly bulky plus the battery was slightly heavy, however, the battery life is so good that we really don’t mind. Besides, it’s reassuring to be completely sure that you simply are not about to lose the product (you would soon notice in case you dropped it).
As an optional extra, you can even get a function which will interrupt an existing signal so they can deliver critical information without waiting for a communication terminate.
It really does seem as if Motorola have thought of the lot for this two way radio. What we’ve got here is a radio that is pretty close to perfection. It appears to do anything you could probably want it to and, when ‘pimped out’ with all the optional extras, it will surely do a lot more besides.
There are not really any downsides with this radio, it works particularly well, is pretty much top of the line in its price range and is bang up to date technologically. What more can you ask for?
