What to make of the new-fangled DP2400

Editors note – Motorola give the impression to be churning out two way radios like they’re just candy nowadays, the digital revolution has in fact provided Motorola a new market and they are, as standard, pushing the boundaries of the two-way communication market. This recent 2 way radio the Motorola dp2400, is full fat digital and having tried it for a few weeks it is very similar size to a lot of other of the current 2 way radios, but having a different connection variety. The form is very similar to other modern two way radios, but i deem the price will make a tremendous difference to small firms and individuals, anyway here is a very rare review of that radio.

A 2 way radio has to be able to work promptly and effectively. It has to be simple to use, robustly designed and multi-faceted enough to appeal to a variety of people. Luckily, Motorola are very, very good at fulfilling these criteria. So, with that at heart, we put the Motorola dp2400 through its paces.

THE SPECS

The clarity of digital audio is undeniable. But when you continue to prefer analogue, then don’t despair. The Motorola dp2400 is completely at ease handling both analogue and digital signals.

But there’s much more it can do besides that.

The Motorola dp2400 can even use its ‘IP Site Connect’ function to expand the capability of the device via the Internet. In addition, the ‘capacity plus’ function can use an individual-site trunking system to allow over a thousand voice or data transfer-users without adding any new frequencies. It can even use an (optional) ‘linked capacity plus’ feature (a multi-site version of the ‘capacity plus’ function) that works in tandem with the IP functionality to make sure even broader fields of communication over bigger areas.

There’s even an enhanced security function.

The Motorola DP 2400 comes in both VHF and UHF forms.

THE PRICE

It’s much reasonable, yet high spec, device. Recently there has been release of the Dp 3400, we are able to reasonably expect the price to drop a little more also soon, but probably not by an incredible amount, as both models do generally concentrate on slightly different areas.

Overall, it does appear to be Motorola are offering an excellent radio-based product for your money, yet again.

THE PERFORMANCE

The look is hardy and utilitarian; this is the type of two way radio a security guard or professional soldier might use. Its tough, square edged and no-nonsense, but it still looks contemporary and specialist. On top of this, the Dp2400’s ease of use makes the simplicity of that design an ideal marriage of model and operation.

Like most of Motorola’s designs, the DP 2400 is a tough little doohickey. The bodywork is so tightly sealed, in reality, that it is almost completely dust and sand proof and has a water protection rating of IP55 (that means feel free to use it in the rain, but you probably can’t take it snorkelling).

The audio performance of this Motorola dp2400 is nothing short of spectacular. It even adjusts the levels to compensate for background noise automatically, much like the iphone.

Actually, so high performance is this two way radio, that it essentially meets US military standard 810 C D E F and G.

Really the only negative we could find was that the look was slightly bulky plus the battery was slightly heavy, however, the battery life is so good that we really don’t mind. Besides, it’s reassuring to be absolutely sure that you simply are not going to lose the product (you would soon notice in case you dropped it).

As an optional extra, you can even obtain a function that will interrupt an existing signal in order to deliver vital information without waiting for a message finish.

THE VERDICT

It actually does seem as if Motorola have considered everything for this 2 way radio. What we’ve got here is a walkie talkie that is pretty close to perfection. It seems to do anything you could probably want it to and, when ‘pimped out’ with all the added extras, it will surely do a lot more in addition.

There aren’t really any downsides with this walkie talkie, it works tremendously well, is pretty much top of the line in its price range and is bang up to date technically. What more can you ask for?
